Connect Claude or ChatGPT

Connect Jobdeck to Claude or ChatGPT, then ask it to look things up and do the work for you. It runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, and Jobdeck charges nothing for it.

You paste one address and sign in to Jobdeck once. There is nothing to install. The assistant then works as you, with your permissions, and you can end the connection whenever you like. (The technical name for this kind of connection is MCP, in case you see it in a menu.)

What it does

Once connected, the assistant can look at your jobs, customers, quotes, invoices, schedule and timesheets and, if you allow it, create and change them. You talk to it the way you would talk to a person in the office. For example:

It does not replace the app. Everything it does shows up in Jobdeck like anything else you do.

The address to paste

This one address works for both Claude and ChatGPT.

Claude

Claude on the web and Claude Desktop

  1. Open Connectors. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Add your own. Choose the plus button, then Add custom connector.
  3. Paste the address. Type the name Jobdeck, paste the address above, and continue.
  4. Add it. Leave the sign in settings as Claude fills them in, then choose Add.
  5. Sign in to Jobdeck. Claude takes you to Jobdeck so you can sign in and allow it. If it does not, choose Connect next to Jobdeck in the list.
  6. Use it. In a chat, choose the plus button at the lower left of the message box, choose Connectors, and switch Jobdeck on.

Every Claude plan can add a custom connector. The free plan is limited to one. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner adds it first, under Organization settings, then Connectors, then Add, then Custom, then Web. After that each person opens Customize, then Connectors, and chooses Connect next to Jobdeck. Claude adds the connector to your account rather than to one device.

Claude Code

Run this one command in your terminal, then type /mcp in Claude Code, choose jobdeck, and sign in.

ChatGPT

  1. Find where ChatGPT adds your own server. On the web, go to chatgpt.com/plugins. On some accounts the same option sits under Settings, then Apps, and you first turn on Developer mode under Advanced settings.
  2. Add your own. Choose the plus button, then the option to add a custom server.
  3. Paste the address. Name it Jobdeck and paste the address above as the server address.
  4. Choose OAuth for sign in. Read the warning ChatGPT shows, confirm you understand it, and create it.
  5. Sign in to Jobdeck. ChatGPT takes you to Jobdeck so you can sign in and allow it.
  6. Use it. Start a new chat and make sure Jobdeck is switched on for it.

ChatGPT changes its menus often. If a name above does not match what you see, look for where you add a custom server, paste the address, and choose OAuth. Everything after that is the same.

Which ChatGPT plans can add a custom server changes from time to time. On a work or school workspace, an admin may need to allow it first. If you cannot find the options above, your plan does not offer it yet. ChatGPT also asks you to approve actions that change something, unless you have told it not to.

Signing in and choosing access

When Claude or ChatGPT sends you to Jobdeck, you sign in the way you normally do. Jobdeck then shows which app is asking and the address it will send you back to, so you can check that it really is Claude or ChatGPT. Then you choose how much to allow.

The free read only accountant seat can only connect read only. If the screen says an app is "calling itself" Claude or ChatGPT, Jobdeck does not recognise it. Only allow it if you started connecting it yourself.

A connection that goes 60 days without being used stops, and you connect again.

What it can reach

Exactly what you can reach in Jobdeck with your own permissions, in the business you connected, and never more. If your role cannot see something in Jobdeck, neither can the assistant.

A connection is for one business, the one you had open when you allowed it. If you switch to a different business in Jobdeck, the connection stops working until you switch back or connect again. If your business's subscription has lapsed, Jobdeck is read only for everyone, and the connection is too.

What it will never do

Some things need you, not an assistant. Jobdeck refuses them for every connection, even when you could do them yourself in the app, because a trick hidden in an email or a message could otherwise turn an assistant against you. The assistant will not:

It asks before anything leaves the business

A quote, invoice, email, reminder or link meant for a customer or supplier is only sent after the assistant has shown you exactly what will go and to whom, and you have agreed. Jobdeck refuses to send until the assistant confirms that. Read what it shows you before you say yes, because once you do, it goes.

Seeing and ending connections

In the dashboard, open your account menu and choose Claude and ChatGPT. It is also listed in Settings. You will see each app you have connected, what it can do, when you connected it and when it was last used. Choose Disconnect and it stops straight away.

The owner, and anyone who can change business settings, also sees everyone's connections at the business. They can disconnect any of them, and they can switch connecting off for the whole business. That stops every connection there until it is switched back on.

Connections also end by themselves when you are removed from the business, when you reset your password, when you sign out every other device, and when you delete your account.

Your data

What the assistant reads goes to Anthropic (for Claude) or OpenAI (for ChatGPT), under your own account with them, and their privacy terms apply to it. Jobdeck cannot take it back from them. It can include your customers' and your team's details, so connect only an account you control, and check what your Claude or ChatGPT plan does with chats before you connect a business.

Jobdeck itself runs no AI on your data. Our privacy policy sets out what we keep about a connection and what happens to it when you delete your account.
